UPDATE: Fatal hit-and-run victim identity released as Choice Taylor of East Prairie Avenue in Des Plaines.
Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:20 PM Friday to a report of a body lying in a westbound lane in the 900 block of East Algonquin Road — about 50 feet east of South Third Avenue. The body of a teen was found at the scene where the driver of a vehicle fled the apparent vehicle vs. pedestrian incident.
The teen was pronounced dead at 6:34 p.m. Friday at Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
Des Plaines police are urging any citizens with information to call Des Plaines police at 847-391-5400. Citizens can also call Crime Stoppers, 847-699-7867, or text an anonymous tip by sending a text message beginning with ICARE to ‘CRIMES’ or ‘274637.’ Des Plaines police are investigating.
