Attempted Robbery of Victim Leaving the Library on a Bike

Arlington Heights police responded just after 5:50 PM Tuesday to report of an attempted robbery that occurred as a person was leaving the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, 500 North Dunton Avenue. Police received a report that a 20 year-old female was riding her bike home from the library when a male offender attempted to take the woman’s purse.

The offender was described as a male with dark skin, dark color or black hair with dreadlocks, and wearing a black, puffy type jacket. The offender did not get the purse.

The crime is reported to have occurred about 5:35 p.m.

Police found a person matching the description near Eastman and Dunton Avenue. Police were checking that subject.

No word on any arrest was available on this case. Arlington Heights police are investigating.
