Arson at Alcott Park, Buffalo Grove Friday Night

Buffalo Grove police and firefighters responded just after 8:30 PM Friday to a report of something burning in the middle of the playround at Alcott Park. 530 Bernard Drive in Buffalo Grove. Police arrived first and reported the entire playground set on fire. Buffalo Grove firefighters quickly knocked down the fire, but after an investigation, police and fire officials determined that the fire was intentionally set.

The estimated damage of the playground equipment is about $50,000 to $100,000.

Buffalo Grove Park District has video surveillance in the area, and the video images are being analyzed by police. So far it appears that two people of middle school or high school age were near the playground when the arson fire was set.

Citizens with information about the fire are urged to call the Buffalo Grove Police Department at 847-459-2560.
