Two with Towels or Shirts Over Their Faces, Gun Attempt Robbery on Bloomington/Suspicious Males Near Wilke and Lake Cook Rd

Update OCT 14 2010 6:35 AM: Four people matching a similar description below and armed with a long gun, possibly a rifle, approached a man who was walking his dog in the 4100 block of North Bloomington Avenue. The offenders demanded that the victim put his hands up. The victim ran away from the offenders, and the offenders fled the area. No confirmation, but police suspect the incident with the gun described here is related to an armed robbery that occurred at 12:08 a.m. Tuesday (see The Cardinal Armed Robbery at Gunpoint on West Nichols Road).

Arlington Heights police first received a report about 8:30 p.m. Sunday of six suspicious male subjects running around an apartment complex near the southwest corner of Wilke and Lake Cook Road. Two of the subjects were reported to have towels pulled up over their faces. Some of the subjects were described as a ‘tall, skinny male/black and two male/Hispanics. They were last seen northbound toward Lake Cook Road.

About 15 minutes later police received a report that four male subjects were walking in the area with shirts pulled over their faces. They ran off when they were spotted by a concerned citizen on Bloomington near Lake Cook Road.

Police also received a report of a person with a gun in the area. Unknown if the reports are connected.
