Patient Damages Sprinkler Head and Flees from Northwest Community Hospital Kirchoff Center

Arlington Heights police and firefighter/paramedics responded to Northwest Community Hospital Kirchoff Center, 901 West Kirchhoff Road, for a fire alarm that was set off when a patient hit a sprinkler head on the second floor just before 11:30 p.m Sunday. The patient then fled the scene with Northwest Community Hospital security personnel searching for him outside the facility.

The description of the patient was a male/white in his 50’s, wearing a white button down shirt, blue jeans, glasses, no shoes. Possibly carrying or wearing black clothes. He was last seen near Kirchhoff and Salem.

The Kirchoff Center is home for the Mental Health Network that was relocated, from the former One West wing, and The Youth Center for youth chemical dependency services. Water damage was reported on the first and second floor.

Police were also searching neighborhoods near the Kirchoff Center.

For spelling experts: ‘Kirchoff Center’ uses the anglicized spelling of ‘Kirchhoff.’ While the road ‘Kirchhoff Road’ in Arlington Heights is spelled with the original version ‘Kirchhoff’ — two ‘h’s.’ The City of Rolling Meadows spells Kirchoff Road in the anglicized version.
