Natural Gas Leak Near Palatine Road and Greeley Street, Palatine

Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 10:00 a.m. Monday to a gas leak after a construction crew severed a 2.5-inch gas line during construction work. Firefghters on the scene detected gas levels in multifamily residences and issued an evacuation order that lasted until about 3:00 p.m. Monday. Nicor sealed the leak about 3:00 p.m. Monday.

The evacuation involved about 50 people with no reports of any illnesses or injuries during the incident.
