#ad▼

Arlington Heights police on patrol witnessed a Metra passenger train locking up the brakes just before 6 p.m. Friday. The train, stopping as best as it could for a train, did not hit a man that crossed the tracks at Dunton Avenue. Police talked to the conductor and/or engineer after the train stopped. The offender was described by the engineer as a male wearing a dark shirt, shorts and gym shoes. He was able to run across the tracks without being hit by the train.

Extra police searched downtown, but no word on an arrest. Police were looking for the man to write a citation.

No reports of any injuries on the train, which also sounded the horn as it came to a stop.
