Colin Dalebroux Identity Released as Man Who Died in Evanston Near Nichols Elementary School

The family of Colin Dalebroux, who was identified as the man killed by a pipe bomb Tuesday morning at Fitzsimmons Park in Evanston, has made a statement from their Madison, Wisconsin home: “We know that Colin committed suicide.”

The Cook County Medical Examiner has not released a determination on the death, but Evanston police have concluded that Colin Dalebroux, 21, acted alone, and that there is no ongoing danger to the public. A second pipe bomb that was found unexploded and detonated by police Tuesday morning. The area of the park was searched thoroughly again on Wednesday, and no additional hazards were found.

Classes at Nichols Middle School are scheduled to resume the regular schedule Thursday morning — September 16. School officials are scheduled to meet with parents at 9 a.m. at the school library.
