Palatine police and Palatine firefighter/paramedics responded about 11:00 a.m. Wednesday to a truck fire on the exit ramp from Route 53 to Rand Road (Route 12). Firefighters extinguished a well-involved truck fire that destroyed the cab and the inventory in the back of the truck.

Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics assisted Palatine firefighter/paramedics in hot weather — upper 80’s. Illinois State police and Arlington Heights police also assisted at the scene. The truck was apparently operated by Advance Refrigeration that transports refrigerators, stoves, washers and dryers.

Traffic was delayed in both directions on Rand Road and at the off ramp from northbound Route 53 to Rand Road across from Wilke Road. The fire was out by 11:15 a.m.
