VIDEO: Buffalo Grove police and Arlington Heights police assure that a Buffalo Grove Fire Department rescue ambulance arrives at Northwest Community Hospital as quickly and safely as possible while transporting apparent drowning victim, Brandon Zhu.

Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:40 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2010 to a report of an 11-month-old boy unresponsive in water in a bathtub in the 1000 block of Knollwood Drive. The boy identified as Brandon Zhu was pronounced dead at 11:04 a.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010. His parents frantically called for help from rescuers just before 7:40 p.m. Thursday. Police and firefighter/paramedics arrived within three minutes. Several police officers also responded to the scene to assist with transporting the parents to the hospital and expediting the Buffalo Grove Fire Department paramedics to Northwest Community Hospital.

About 8:00 p.m. the ambulance was escorted to Northwest Community Hospital along Arlington Heights Road with the lead of Buffalo Grove police and the assistance of Arlington Heights police officers, who blocked major cross streets along Arlington Heights Road.

Apparently a smaller tub flipped within the bath tub while parents switch duties watching the child and thinking each other were tending to the child. The drowning was ruled accidental after investigation.
