A woman and her boyfriend were charged Friday with felony child abuse after police said they starved, beat and tied up the woman’s two young sons.
Sheryl Ann Stuart, 25, was arrested about 9 p.m. Wednesday at a home she rented in the 1400 block of North Parsons Place, Santa Ana after her landlord called police to check for well-being of the boys.
Neighbors had started to notice that the children had not been outside.
Police immediately noticed the 2-year-old had knots on his head, severe bruising to his face, forehead and cheek and dry-cracked bloody lips and bruising with injuries of varying stages of time.
The 5-year-old had knots on his head, swollen arms and was extremely dehydrated.
Stuart’s boyfriend Mario Alberto Colin, 31, was arrested Friday for investigation of willful cruelty to a child and inflicting injury upon a child.
Paramedics transported both boys to a hospital for treatment.
