Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) Officer Shoots, Kills Fleeing Suspect Who Struck 3 Officers

A Lake County Metropolitan Enforcement Group (MEG) member shot and killed a suspect after the suspect struck three MEG officers while fleeing from a traffic stop near Greenbay Road and 24th Street in North Chicago.

The suspect was able to drive about one mile north on Greenbay Road with a single gunshot until he crashed his vehicle. The suspect was pronounced dead at a Waukegan hospital.

Illinois State Police are investigating the officer-involved shooting.

MEG is a multi-jurisdictional task force made up of members from various area police department that focuses on illegal drugs, gangs and weapons offenses.
