Daily Herald Video of fireground operations shortly after a house fire destroyed a two-story brick and wood frame home on the 40W500 block of Prairie Court between Gilberts and Pingree Grove.

Pete Marek reported a fire Tuesday morning to the Pingree Grove Fire Department after a fire extinguisher failed to extinguish a fire believed to be caused by a spark from a metal grinder used to do work on an older model pickup truck in a garage.

Rutland-Dundee, Hampshire, Huntley, Hoffman Estates, West Dundee, East Dundee, Carpentersville, Pingree Grove, St. Charles, Elburn, Elgin, Burlington, South Elgin, Bartlett and Genoa-Kingston fire departments were on the scene for the extra alarm fire. Firefighters used tankers or tender trucks with deployable, folding, portable water tanks to hold water that was shuttled to the fire scene. The neighborhood does not have fire hydrants.

The extra-alarm fire was a third alarm tanker box.
