Buffalo Grove police received a report about 8:30 p.m. Thursday of a burglary attempt in the 1100 block of Sandhurst Drive.

A rear patio window was smashed while the resident was home on the first floor. The offender immediately fled in a northeasterly direction — possibly across Old Farm Park. Fresh foot prints were also noted in the backyard.

Buffalo Grove police searched the neighborhood extensively with some units watching a perimeter. An Arlington Heights Police Department K-9 Unit assisted Buffalo Grove Police Department.

No word on any arrests related to this attempted burglary. A burglary Wednesday occurred about the same time frame, and about 1.5 miles southeast of the Sandhurst Drive location. Both crimes were initiated near large open areas — Chevy Chase Golf Course and Old Farm Park.
