4-Alarm Fire at Empress Casino in Joliet

A fire reported at Empress Casino at about 10:00 a.m. Friday has become a 4-alarm fire still burning heavy at 2:30 p.m. at the casino at 2300 Empress Road in Joliet. The fire apparently started in a kitchen area where welders were working on an area under construction. The fire quickly extended to the roof and caused a failure of the truss roof.

All fire departments in the immediate area have sent tanker trucks to help with water shuttle operations. Several aerial trucks or tower ladder trucks and deck guns are pouring water on the fire.
