Long Grove Apartment Fire Call on Bonhill Drive Actually Tear Gas

Arlington Heights and Buffalo Grove Fire Department assisted Long Grove Fire Department for an apartment fire in the 4100 block of Bonhill Drive just after 4:00 a.m. Report of heavy smoke in a 3-story, 6-unit apartment building with people possibly trapped on the second floor. Arlington Heights paramedic ambulance also requested by Long Grove Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived to find a discharged tear gas canister on the second floor. A HazMat response was initiated by Long Grove Fire Department.

Paramedics treated Cook County Sheriff police officers that were contaminated by tear gas.

At least 10 people evacuated and treated (total six-ambulance response from Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Highwood, Palatine) and Cook County Bomb Squad responded to manage the discharged tear gas canister.
