Burglars Hitting Northwest Suburbs, Entering Unlocked Doors

CRIME ALERT: About 30 residential break-ins in Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Palatine and Rolling Meadows. Also, a residential break-in reported in the Sherwood subdivision in Arlington Heights recently. The burglars are bold — hitting in the middle of the afternoon while people are home. They are usually entering through unlocked doors. Take precautions and keep a look out for one or two young males carrying duffel bags (possibly red).

Area police officers are urging residents to keep alert for suspicious noises, suspicious cars and suspicious people after a rash of burglaries in area suburbs.

Burglaries have been occurring during afternoon and evening hours with burglars entering rear and side doors and windows. One Palatine homeowner came home to find a small window slightly open. The same day a resident found muddy footprints inside the house and the her dog locked inside the master bedroom.
