In the  fourth day of a rare, long period of freezing rain and freezing drizzle, Arlington Heights has only a light accumulation of a crunchy glaze from freezing drizzle. Walking on sidewalks causes a crunch, not a hard slide, but some areas may have a harder, more slippery glaze.

Many schools are closed west and north of Arlington Heights, including Glenbard North and Glenbard South High Schools (District 225). Arlington Academy in Buffalo Grove, and Harvest Christian Academy in Rolling Meadows.

The hard ice and more threatened areas are west and north of Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates, including Cary, Crystal Lake, Elgin, Harvard, Dundee, Waukegan, Bartlett and more.

The far north and northwest suburbs of Chicago and southern Wisconsin could see ice as severe as the ice storm that hit the Plains the past few days.

Check Arlingtoncards.com/radar to see the rain/freezing rain regions (pink/green).

Pink is freezing rain and drizzle and green is rain.
