Chicago Northwest Side Warehouse Fire, Smoke Seen for Miles

A 4-11 Alarm fire in a warehouse factory was declared a little after 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at 4150 North Knox in Chicago [MAP/SAT]. The fire was declared a 2-11 a little after 1:30 p.m. The Metra Northwest Line was shut down for a period during the blaze as the fire was close to the tracks and the Kennedy Expressway. Heavy smoke was visible as far as Arlington Heights, Illinois. The fire building was located just south of ‘The Junction’ at the Kennedy Expressway and the Edens Expressway in the Portage Park neighborhood.

Fourteen master streams were reported to be used during firefighting. The fire was declared struck out just a little after 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
