Arlington Heights Attic Fire, Possibly Lightning Related

#ad▼

Arlington Heights Fire Department responded to a report of the smell of
smoke in a home on North Coldspring in Arlington Heights [MAP/SAT].

A neighbor also recalled noticing a lightning flash between houses before the fire call.

Firefighters also detected a smell of smoke and a light haze in the
attic and then a fire glow in the attic between the house and the
garage. A bedroom wall was also hot to touch. Firefighters used a
thermal image camera to pinpoint hot spots and minmize damage to the
house from water for fire supression and to minimize pulling away
building materials to find all fire sources.

Fire departments from Buffalo Grove and Wheeling assisted Arlington
Heights Fire Department in putting out this fire.
