Hoffman Estates Armed Robbery, Pursuit Ends in Crash in Elk Grove

A Hoffman Estates bank robbery at a Fifth Third Bank at 4653 W Higgins Rd [MAP/SAT] turned into a police pursuit Tuesday about 2:00 p.m. The pursuit continued eastbound along Interstate 90, exited by Woodfield Road and Golf and then re-entered I-90. A bag of money was dropped on the Northwest Tollway (I-90) and was retrieved by police. The black Chrysler being driven by a male black exited southbound Arlington Heights Road.

The suspect’s car collided head-on with a fully loaded salvage truck in the northbound curb lane at Arlington heights Road and Higgins in Elk Grove Village [MAP/SAT]. The suspect then ran south toward the rear driveway of a bowling alley where he was captured by police. A second suspect that ran from the car was captured in a residential area nearby. Elk Grove Village Police Department, Arlington Heights Police Department, and Cook County Sheriff’s Police assisted Hoffman Estates Police Department with the pursuit.

Elk Grove Village Fire Department’s ladder truck was called to help search the roof of the bowling alley for any weapons or property that may have been tossed onto the roof by the suspect at the end of the chase.

Police were also searching the suspect’s car for weapons, property and other evidence. No injuries were reported and no ambulances were immediately on the scene.
