VIDEO from Active.com: Six-Time Ironman Champion Dave Scott demonstrates several techniques to help ensure you’re getting the most from your swim strokes.
Dave Scott won the Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii six times in 1980 (9:24:33), 1982 (9:14:41), 1983 (9:05:57), 1984 (8:54:20), 1986 (8:28:37), and 1987 (8:34:13). His best time was in 1989 (8:10:13) when he finished second place. Mark Allen won in 1989 with a time of 8:09:14.
Only his rival, Mark Allen, managed to match these six titles eight years later. In 1993 Mark Allen achieved his best time with a first pace of 8:07:46. Currently the best time for the Ironman World Championship is held by Luc Van Lierde, of Belgium, with a time of 8:04:08.
Currently, the top women’s time is 8:54:02 held by Chrissie Wellington of Great Britain.
Triathlon: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run
From 1978 through 1980 the Ironman World Championship was held on the island of Oahu, the course combining that of three events already held there: the Waikiki Roughwater Swim (2.4 mi./3.86 km), the Around-Oahu Bike Race (115 mi./185.07 km, originally a two-day event), and the Honolulu Marathon. In order to link the end of the bike stage to the start of the marathon course, the bike stage was reduced by 3 miles. In 1981 the race was moved to the less urbanized Island of Hawaiʻi, or Big Island, keeping the distances the same: a 2.4 miles (3.86 km) open water swim in Kailua-Kona Bay, a 112 miles (180.25 km) bike ride across the Hawaiian lava desert to Hāwī and back, and a marathon (26 miles 385 yards, 42.195 km) run along the coast of the Big Island from Keauhou to Keahole Point and back to Kailua-Kona, finishing on Aliʻi Drive.

Mike Ditka signs a Chicago Bears helmet at Mariano’s Fresh Market.
Mike Ditka sat diligently where the dairy and meat sections adjoin at Mariano’s Fresh Market signing his autograph on footballs, helmets, posters and wine bottles. Working with Mendocino Wine Company, Ditka has his own brand of wines called Da Coach. He started out with a Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and a red blend of Zinfandel named Kick Ass Red. A long line of fans waited along Kensington Road and into the grocery store for the opportunity of an autograph and a photo opportunity with the championship coach.
Mike Ditka, who won the 1985 NFL Coach of the Year Award, the Chicago Bears went 15-1 in the regular season, becoming the second NFL team to win 15 regular season games. Mike Ditka coached the Chicago Bears for 11 years and New Orleans Saints for 3 years. Ditka and Tom Flores are the only two people to win Super Bowls as a player, an assistant coach and a head coach. Ditka was the only individual to participate in the last two Chicago Bears’ championships, as a player in 1963 and as head coach in 1985.
Mike Ditka Wines are available at Mariano’s Fresh Market along with other specialties in the wine & liquor department.

Roundy’s opened their first Mariano’s Fresh Market in the country in Arlington Heights, Illinois on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. The front of the store has a large home town good old days look with an arched front window. A full line of cash registers spans to the north with spacious aisles to the rear of the store — the western wall. The aisles are clearly labeled and the shelves are stocked to the max. A beautiful floral shop stands at the front-center of the store. Customer service is at the front of the store in front of the checkout lanes.

Frozen food is located at the front, northeast corner of the store. Dairy makes up the back northwest corner of the store. Meats line the back of the store at the west wall, and meat and seafood are located at the southwest corner at the back of the store. At the south-central area of the store, you will find produce, bulk foods, liquor, health & beauty and a pharmacy. The far south section of the store houses from front-to-back: a coffee bar, restrooms, salad bar, deli, indoor/outdoor bistro, sushi, and a bakery.
The cafe/deli in the store about 70,000 square-feet in size has a full kitchen and sells dinner entrees, chicken, pizza, sandwiches and appetizers.
The store lives up to it’s motto. Shop well. Eat well. Live well. There is a bike rack near the north front doors and no cigarettes are sold at the store.
