Intersection crash involving a rolled over Palatine Fire Department ambulance, a minivan, and a red sedan at Palatine Road and Rohlwing Road.
A Schaumburg man was ticketed by Palatine Police Department following a crash with a Palatine Fire Department ambulance last week on Thursday June 22, 2017.
Palatine Police say a 44-year-old man was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving without valid insurance.
Palatine Fire Department Ambulance 83 was responding to a call about 2:00 p.m. Thursday June 22, 2017 at an NCH Medical Group Northwest Community Hospital facility at 500 North Hicks Road when the white van driven by the Schaumburg man crashed with the ambulance, causing the ambulance to glance off to the northwest corner of Palatine Road and Rohlwing Road, , knock down a large traffic signal light, hit a hedge of bushes, and roll over.
Palatine Ambulance 83 was westbound on Palatine Road with another fire truck when the white van, traveling northbound on Rohlwing Road crashed into the ambulance, spun around and hit a red sedan on the driver’s side of the sedan.
Two Palatine Fire Department firefighter/paramedics and the driver of the van driver were transported to a Northwest Community Hospital with apparently non life-threatening injuries.
Arlington Heights Firefighters from Ambulance 2’s crew transported the two Palatine firefighter/paramedics and a Palatine Ambulance transported the driver of the white van. The female driver of the red car was not transported, after being offered help from paramedics.
Palatine Rural firefighter/paramedics and another crew of Palatine firefighters responded to the NCH Medical Group call, and Rolling Meadows firefighter/paramedics also worked at the scene of the crash.
The identity of the male van driver was not released.
