VIDEO: Firefighters extinguish a fully-involved landscaping garage fire at Wilson Lawn and Landscaping at Pfingsten Rd and Highland Rd in unincorporated Northbrook.
Northbrook firefighter/paramedics and Cook County Sheriff’s police deputies responded about 5:13 PM Wednesday to a report of a fire in a barn at 2500 Pfingsten Road. Firefighter/paramedics reported a well-involved commercial landscaping business garage in an unincorporated residential neighborhood, just northwest of Pfinsten Rd and Willow Road. The fire completely destroyed the garage and equipment and supplies inside.
The large detached garage was part of Wilson Lawn and Landscape located at the corner of Pfingsten Road and Highland Road. The fire was discovered by the owners.
Firefighters fought the fire from the south side on Highland Road and the north side on Farmington Road. Both Highland Road and Farmington Road were blocked for an extended period, just west of Pfingsten Road.
Firefighters used several handlines on the the fire and a master stream from a tower ladder overhead. Firefighters were careful with the overhead master stream to avoid overshooting the high pressure into the single family homes behind the burning garage off of Farmington Road.
No injuries were reported.
Highland Road was blocked for an extended period. The right lane of Pfinsten Road was also blocked during rush hour.
Firefighters from Glenview, Northfield, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods fought the fire with Northbrook firefighters.
