Arlington Heights police received a report about 10:42 AM Wednesday Police received a report that complainant connected with a subject she met through the “Twoo” social and dating website. The subject used the name “Tom Barker”. During a conversation he asked the female complainant to help him obtain leave from the U.S. Army. She was instructed to make a $1,550 “processing payment” to an address in Sudan, Africa.

The U.S. Army confirmed this request was a scam. The complainant did receive an e-mail from a location claiming to be the U.S. Army Leave Department telling her she would be investigated for fraud if she did not send the money.

Apparently the female did not send the money. No word on whether the police or the complainant checked with the U.S. Army about the leave request.
