An off-duty Chicago police office shot an intruder attempting to break into his South Side home in the 5500 block of South Normandy Avenue just before 10 a.m. Friday.
Chicago Fire Department paramedics transported the alleged intruder in critical condition to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.
Several other police officers also live on the block.
