Three Parked Buses Burn at Durham School Services Lot in Lake Villa

Update: The fire was determined to have been caused by an engine block heater.

Lake Villa police and firefighters responded about 4:50 a.m. Friday to a report of two school buses on fire Durham School Services bus lot, 212 West Park Avenue.

Police first on the scene report two buses fully-involved. Lake Villa’s Engine 241 crew on arrival reported two buses on fire and requested an additional fire engine to respond to the scene. Firefighters were able to stop the fire by 5:24 a.m. with only three buses destroyed.

Lake Villa police and fire are investigating the fire.
