Firefighter Injured at 3-Alarm Fire on Gardina Vista, Crystal Lake

Flames broke through the roof of an abandoned two-story house in Crystal Lake Wednesday afternoon (Video: SFDtruck52).

Crystal Lake firefighter/paramedics and police responded just after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday to a fire in a vacant house at 1344 Gardina Vista. The fire response was elevated to a 3-alarm fire, mostly likely due to the need to rotate fresh crews to prevent heat illnesses among firefighters. A Huntley firefighters was treated for heat-related symptoms, but was not transported to the hospital.

A Crystal Lake firefighter was reported to have been injured in an incident when his foot was injured in a moving ladder, and was flown by Flight for Life to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. The injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening. No other injuries were reported, and no nearby structures were damaged by the fire.
