Green Minivan Stuck in Mudslide in Puget Sound on East Jovita Blvd, Edgewood
Heavy rain in the Puget Sound is starting to cause mudslides. One slide covered a road Thursday morning in Pierce County, Washington, trapping a minivan. The occupants were unhurt.
Heavy rain and winds caused multiple mudslides, power outages and downed trees in the Puget Sound region. A man and woman in a green minivan tried to drive over a mud slide and got stuck on East Jovita Boulevard between 114th Avenue East to West Valley Highway, Edgewood.

Puget Sound is a sound in the U.S. state of Washington. It is a complex estuarine[citation needed] system of interconnected marine waterways and basins, with one major and one minor connection to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Pacific Ocean — Admiralty Inlet being the major connection and Deception Pass being the minor.
“Puget Sound” is used not just for the body of water but also the general region centered on the sound. Puget Sound extends approximately 100 miles (160 km) from Deception Pass in the north to Olympia, Washington in the south. Its average depth is 205 feet and its maximum depth, off Point Jefferson between Indianola and Kingston, is 930 feet.
A sound or seaway is a large sea or ocean inlet larger than a bay, deeper than a bight, wider than a fjord, or it may identify a narrow sea or ocean channel between two bodies of land.
