People using Nextdoor are supposed to use their real names and physical addresses. The visibility of posts is not public, and ostensibly not defined by friends, groups or topics, as happens in other social-media platforms. Instead, visibility is supposedly determined by the geographical neighborhood in which users actually reside, creating a hyperlocal trend
