Palatine Police officers responded about 9:20 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2026 to a report of a disturbance in the block of 800 West Panorama Drive in The Clayson apartment community in northwest Palatine. Police received a report that an intoxicated individual was knocking on a neighbor’s apartment door and attempting to gain entry.

Upon arrival, officers encountered the subject, identified as Billy L. Logan, 34, of the 800 block of W. Panorama Drive, Palatine, in the hallway of the apartment building while holding a glass bottle. Logan was uncooperative and became confrontational during the investigation.

During the encounter, Logan actively resisted officers’ attempts to detain him. While officers were attempting to place him into custody, Logan struggled with officers and reached for an officer’s service weapon, making contact with the officer’s holster. The weapon remained secured and was not removed at any time. After a brief struggle, officers were able to safely take Logan into custody.

After review of the incident and consultation with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, Logan was charged with:

One Count of Attempt to Disarm a Peace Officer (Class 2 Felony)

Two Counts of Aggravated Assault to a Police Officer (Class A Misdemeanor)

One Count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Class A Misdemeanor)

One Count of Resisting a Peace Officer (Class A Misdemeanor)

One Count of Disorderly Conduct (Class C Misdemeanor)

Logan appeared for a detention hearing at the Cook County 3rd District Courthouse on February 26, 2026. He was ordered released pending pretrial conditions. His next court date is scheduled for April 6, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in Room 108 at the Rolling Meadows Courthouse.
