Police, firefighters and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 10:53 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2021 to a report of an exterior fire on the driveway that caught the house on fire in the block of 1000 North Mitchell Avenue in Arlington Heights.

Firefighters arrived with smoke showing, and discovered at least two bags on fire, and that the fire had spread to wood siding on the south side of the house. Engine 2’s crew led out with one hose line to the fire. The exterior fire was immediately extinguished. Next, firefighters pulled off the wood siding to make sure any fire that might have spread inside the wall was extinguished.

The fire was declared out, and firefighters were working on overhaul by about 11:11 p.m.

Initially there were no injuries reported at the fire scene.

Bags and/or debris were located near the dryer vent outside, but there was no confirmation that the dryer vent was related to the fire. A fire investigator was assigned to the scene.
