Girl, Age 5, Hit by Pickup Truck, Killed in Possible DUI Accident on Jennifer Ln, Unincorporated Arlington Heights

Cook County Sheriff’s deputies responded about 11:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2021 to a report of a tragic fatal motor vehicle accident at an apartment complex at 4053 Jennifer Lane in Palatine Township.




The Cook County Sheriff’s Office learned that a five-year-old girl was hit by a pickup truck, and the girl’s family transported her to the hospital. — presumably Northwest Community Hospital.

The five-year-old girl was pronounced dead at Northwest Community Hospital. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the girl as Maria Nica, who lived in an apartment in the same block of Jennifer Lane.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene. The driver was identified as 28-year-old, Jesus Guillen Escobar. He was driving a blue Ford F-150 truck in an unknown direction when the child was struck. At the scene, Jesus Guillen Escobar failed a field sobriety test, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. He was then taken into custody and transported to Northwest Community Hospital.




Criminal charges are pending as the investigation is still ongoing and awaiting bloodwork analysis of the driver.

Long Grove firefighters were called to the scene about 1:57 a.m. to assist the police on Jennifer Lane.
