Mundelein Teen Dies After He Was Found Unresponsive in a ‘Medical Emergency’ at Lollapalooza


A teenager from north suburban Mundelein died Sunday night, after he was found unresponsive at Lollapalooza just before 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018.

Paramedics at Lollapalooza responded to an area of the music festival at Grant Park just before 8:00 p.m. when a Mundelein teen was found unresponsive.

Evan Kitzmiller, 16, was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he pronounced dead shortly before 9 p.m. Evan was in critical condition due to a medical emergency when first responders transported him to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital, according to the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications.

A death investigation is underway, according to Chicago Police Department.

“We are saddened to learn of the death of an individual who attended Lollapalooza on Sunday. The individual’s family and loved ones are in our thoughts during this difficult time. We have no further information at this time,”

Kitzmiller was entering his junior year at Mundelein High School.

Evan Kitzmiller was an honor roll student and played basketball and baseball during his freshman year, and played sophomore football during the 2017 high school football season.
