Arlington Heights Snowfall: New Snow Pavement 2.0″ and Grass 2.0″ Ending Sunday December 18, 2016; Snow Cover 6″ on Grass

A total of 2 inches of snow fell in Arlington Heights from about 5:30 PM Saturday December 17, 2016 until 2:30 AM Sunday December 18, 2016. The recent snow period lasted about 9:00 (hours:minutes). The previous snow cover was 4 inches. The current snow cover is 6 inches.

The snow quality was dry and light — not good packing snow, but easy for shoveling. Snow accumulated equally on grassy and paved areas.

Some drifting is occurring, and high northwest winds and gust are expected until about 4:00 p.m. Ends of driveways covered by snow thrown from city snow plows are covered by dry, light snow. Snow melting substances may cause solidification or ice packing of plowed snow, but this is not likely because of extreme cold conditions.
