House Fire Near Hoffman Estates High School on Glen Ln at Hermitage Ln, Hoffman Estates

Hoffman Estates police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:46 PM Tuesday to a report of a car fire in an attached garage at 1165 Glen Lane Hoffman Estates, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that flames and smoke were coming from the attached garage of a house. All residents were reported evacuated from the house. Hoffman Estates Battalion Chief 6 reported fire showing in the attached garage of a two-story house with a vehicle fire inside the garage. The garage fire appeared to be extending into the house.

By 7:02 PM firefighters reported an “all clear” on a primary search of the house for any occupants or victims, but outside firefighters were having trouble with a positive water supply because frozen fire hydrants. Heavy fire was showing out the rear of the house and/or garage at about 7:23 PM. The rear of the house is just across the north athletic fields of Hoffman Estates High School.

Initially firefighters had trouble with two or three frozen fire hydrants. A water tanker truck was requested from Palatine Rural Fire Protection District in case of continued water supply problems. A Hoffman Estates fire engine set up a positive water supply at a fire hydrant on Hermitage, and fed the fire engine parked in front of the burning house. The fire was under control by about 7:35 p.m.

A Bartlett ambulance, and Elgin fire engine, and a Schaumburg fire engine assisted Hoffman Estates with other call in Hoffman Estates while firefighters were battling the house fire.
