Chicago firefighters and police responded about 4:50 p.m. to a fire at 3330 North Clark Street the fire immediately communicated to an exposure building to the south at 3328 North Clark Street. The south exposure quickly had fire showing from the front and the back of the building. The exposure to the north was not burning as of 5:45 p.m. Businesses known to be affected were Roadhouse 66 and Samah Hookah Lounge at 3330 North Clark Street, and Jimmy John’s directly to the south at 3328 North Clark Street. Later the business to the north, Thai Classic at 3332 North Clark Street, was known to be affected. Winds at the time of the fire were from the southwest at about 17 mph with gusts to 26 mph.
Firefighters hit by a wall of smoke and fire that pushed out from the front of Samah Hookah Lounge — possibly as the result of a roof collapse. Windward Boardshop is located at 3317 North Clark Street.
It is unknown the extent of any injuries that occurred. Chicago Fire Media has not reported any firefighter injuries on their official Twitter account.
The fire was struck out at 6:50 p.m. on the orders of Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner (Fire Suppression North & Rescue North) 2-1-10 at 6:50 p.m. Crews are still working washing down the affected areas. Winds area expected to be southwest at 20-25 mph with gust as high as 35 mph. Re-kindling of the fire will be possible, but a crew is likely to be on fire watch tonight with demolition also ongoing.
