Occupy Protesters face off with police in New York. Hundreds of demonstrators were arrested nationwide, mostly in New York. More than 240 protesters were arrested, five protesters were charged with felony assault, and seven police officers and 10 protesters were injured yesterday in New York’s Occupy Wall Street protesters’ “Day of Action.”

More than two dozen Occupy protesters were arrested in L.A. They were part of 300 occupy demonstrators arrested nationwide. The Los Angeles figure rose to about 80 arrested at Occupy Wall Street demonstrations. Police arrested 70 protesters at New York’s Zuccotti Park early Tuesday, including some who chained themselves together, while clearing the park so that sanitation crews could clean it. Protesters will be allowed to return, without sleeping bags, tents and tarps. Businesses have complained the Occupy Streets protesters are disrupting their local, small business operations.
