Buffalo Grove Fire Department received numerous calls for tall flames over rooftops near Lake Cook Road and the railroad tracks in Buffalo Grove. A controlled burn of excess gas was being performed at the rear of the old CDW building in the 1000 block of East Lake Cook Road in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. Possible work was being performed on a gas line between the Banner Plumbing building and the North Central Metra line railroad tracks (Milwaukee/Wisconsin Central tracks). The flames may be visible until about 8:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
People from the neighborhood of Horatio Gardens on Horatio, Osage Terrace, and Armstrong reported tall flames visible over the rooftops. Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded and investigated — finding the controlled burn, which they were situationally aware.
The flames were visible from Metra trains and as far north as the Sidney Mathias commuter station near Deerfield Parkway. People traveling westbound on Lake Cook Road and impressive view of the tall flames coming off of a tower behind the Banner Plumbing building in the 1000 block of East Lake Cook Road in Buffalo Grove.
Heat from the flames could be felt about 200 yards away.

Arlington Heights police and firefighters responded to a crash at Palatine Road and Valley Road in Arlington Heights just before 11:00 a.m. Saturday. At least two people were injured. Rescue-ambulances from Arlington Heights Fire Department and Buffalo Grove Fire Department transported at least two accident victims to Northwest Community Hospital.

Arlington Height Fire Department firefighter/paramedics rescued an elderly woman from a second floor apartment Friday night about 5:45 p.m. after a neighbor helped a woman with burn injuries get out of her apartment. Police and firefighters arrived to find people evacuating an apartment building, but received a report that a woman was trapped in a second floor apartment and was suffering from burns. Firefighters raised a ladder to the second floor apartment balcony while other firefighters entered the apartment from the inside hallway. A woman was rescued along with three cats. The woman was transported to the hospital by Arlington Heights Fire Department firefighter/paramedics. The three cats were transported to a local animal hospital after at least one of the cats received oxygen treatment on the front lawn of the apartment building.
A sofa was fully involved with fire and was extinguished and removed to the balcony. The metal frame with all padding and upholstery burned away was visible leaning against the balcony railing.
A second woman was held for observation in a second rescue-ambulance. One firefighter was treated with oxygen at the rehabilitation ambulance at the scene.

Buffalo Grove police put out an alert for an offending vehicle — likely a black Honda car — that was involved in hit-and-run car vs. pedestrian accident at Deerfield and Route 83. Firefighter/paramedics arrived about 6:15 p.m. to find a person down in the road. A black plastic passenger side mirror fell off of the offending vehicle near the site of the accident. The offending vehicle was last seen heading toward Wheeling on Lake Cook Road (eastbound).
Arlington Heights police received a report about 2:05 p.m. Thursday of a red Toyota and a blue Honda that crashed near Valli Produce, in the 400 block of East Golf Road, and caused injuries to a pedestrian.
A woman pedestrian was reported to be caught in between two crashed cars before she fell to the ground and was reported bleeding.
With Arlington Heights Fire Department paramedics on the scene with police officers, a second crash occurred in the vicinity. No reported injuries from the second crash.
