Residential/Vehicle Burglary on Cedar Glen, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 9:17 p.m. Wednesday of a residential burglary/vehicle burglary in the 2600 block of Cedar Glen. Police received a report that the homeowner heard his garage open overnight. Later he notice that change, phone chargers and other electronic devices missing from two vehicles in the garage.

More Lightning Lights Up Sky After Striking House on Drury Ln at End of Storm

Arlington Heights firefighters put a quick stop on a roof and attic fire that was apparently caused by a lightning strike about 2:30 a.m. Friday. Did you hear the thunder? Even though the rain and thunderstorms were ending, an intense, bright flash and cloud-to-ground lightning strike hit the area and apparently caused serious house fire. The heaviest thunderstorms trained south of the northwest suburbs but affected Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Morton Grove, Lincolnwood, Harwood Heights and other suburbs south of Arlington Heights were hit with hail, heavy rain, high winds and intense lightning.

The Arlington Heights lightning strike was nature’s encore for our area, which only experienced moderate rain and no severe thunderstorms. The stormy weather was almost finished when the duplex house on Drury Lane was hit, and seven residents had to evacuate their homes. Retail Theft Suspect Arrested at Best Buy On Palatine Rd., Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 1:17 PM Thursday to a report of a theft in progress at Best Buy, 615 East Palatine Road. Police received a report that a male/white suspect was cutting open CD packages with a knife and attempting to steal CDs.

The retail theft suspect was reported as a male/white in his 30s or 40s with dark hair, glasses, a maroon shirt, and tan cargo pants.

The suspect was apprehended at about 1:22 PM. Police transported an adult male in custody to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters. The suspect’s gray Dodge Durango was towed to a police holding area.

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of

northeast Illinois
southeast Wisconsin
Lake Michigan

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is ffective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 110 PM until
700 PM CDT.

Hail to 2 inches in diameter… thunderstorm wind gusts to 70
mph… and dangerous lightning are possible in these areas.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce tornadoes.

Arlington Heights District 25 Gets New Design, Functions on May 4, 2012

A redesigned website for Arlington Heights School District 25 is scheduled for release on May 4, 2012. The website will be hosted by Edline — defined as a third-party Learning Management System (LMS) provider.

Edline provides website services that area integrated at the district, school and classroom level. Services include online learning and mass notification. So far the details of the of online learning services that will be integrated with District 25 have not been clarified.

Last October Edline merged with Blackboard Inc. — a leading provider of online learning. Blackboard Inc. provides enterprise software and mobile applications, communications and commerce services, primarily to the education industry. Blackboard is best known as a developer of learning software for higher education, K-12, and professional education institutions.
