Man Attacks Manager at Electronics Store on West Rand Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police responded about 6:51 PM Wednesday to a battery at HH Gregg 45 West Rand Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that a male offender was attacking a manager. No serious injuries were reported, and no paramedics were called to the scene. The man fled in a black Saturn Vue. He was accompanied by a female subject.

The offender is described as a male/white in his 20s.

Palatine police spotted the suspect in Palatine and detained him for Arlington Heights police. The subject was identified, arrested and transported to Arlington Heights Police Department Headquarters.

UPDATE: Residential Burglary on West White Oak St, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 6:19 PM Monday of a residential burglary in the block of 1300 West White Oak Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders appeared to pry open the sliding glass door before prying open a wooden rear den door to gain entry. They searched through the master bedroom and removed an envelope containing cash and numerous pieces of jewelry including a gold wedding ring with a marquis shaped diamond, amethyst/diamond ring and a full pearl necklace. The value of the jewelry and cash is unknown at this time.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Monday May 20, 2013 between 8:15 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

UPDATE: Theft of Wallet At Cooper’s Hawk On West Algonquin Rd, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police received a report about 7:02 PM Tuesday of a theft at Cooper’s Hawk restaurant, 798 West Algonquin Road Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders removed a black Vera Bradley wallet valued at $250 from the victim’s purse which was hanging on the back of a chair while she was eating with her friends. The wallet contained her Illinois driver’s license, credit/debit cards and cash. She realized the wallet was missing after receiving text messages from her bank alerting her the credit/debit cards were used at the Wal-Mart (over $800) and Meijer (over $200) in Rolling Meadows. Security video showed two females sit down at an adjacent table before the first offender removed the wallet from the purse. They immediately left after committing the theft.

The crime is reported to have occurred on Monday May 20, 2013 at 7:30 p.m.

The offenders area described as #1 female/white 5’05″ heavy set with blonde hair, wearing a green sweater, and #2 a female/black 5’05″ heavy set with black hair, wearing a white sweater.

Two Strong Armed Robberies in Three Days Between Golf Rd and Bode Rd, NW Schaumburg

Strong Armed Robberies – Beat 1

The Schaumburg Police Department is issuing a Community Alert for residents in Beat 1 as a result of two strong armed robberies that have occurred over the last three days. Both crimes occurred within a few blocks of the intersection of Knollwood Drive and Pennview Lane on the far northwest side of the village.

On Saturday May 18th at 11:50am, a 28-year old female resident of Schaumburg was walking on the 1900 block of Windsong Drive [MAP]. A lone offender walked up from behind the victim, passed her, then turned and pushed the victim to the ground. The offender then grabbed two gold necklaces from the victim’s neck and fled on foot. The offender was described as a male/black, 18-yoa, 5’07”, husky build with short black hair. He was wearing a white sleeveless shirt and white shorts and had a large unknown type tattoo on his right arm/shoulder.

On Monday May 20th at 8:50am, a 54-year old female resident of Schaumburg was on the 2300 block of Good Speed Lane [MAP]. The victim was approached by an offender grabbed and yanked a gold chain from her neck. The offender was described as male/black, 20-25-yoa, 5’06”, medium build, with partially shaved hair. He was wearing a blue short-sleeve t-shirt with red writing. The offender fled on foot with a second person who was only described as male/white.

Neither victim was injured in these incidents. Residents are reminded to remain aware of their surroundings while in public. Please call 9-1-1 immediately if you observe any suspicious persons, observe people who appear to be loitering, or observe people who appear to be watching or following others as they walk.

Criminal Damage to Property on South Cleveland Ave and on East Rockwell St, Arlington Heights

Arlington Heights police on patrol about 3:00 AM Saturday discovered several incidents of criminal damage to property in the block of 700 South Cleveland Avenue Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders criminally damaged a group of mailboxes.

Police discovered at least two mailboxes damaged on South Cleveland Avenue.

One mailbox was also damaged in the 1100 block of East Rockwell Street.

Some of the mailboxes were found
in the middle of the street and returned to the proper location by police. Police also left contact information for a police report.

The crime is reported to have occurred sometime before Saturday May 18, 2013 at 3:00 a.m.

Police Accidentally Kill Hostage Andrea Rebello During Intense Gunfire with Offender in Home Invasion, Nassau County

College junior and hostage Andrea Rebello, 21, was shot by a police officer in a gun battle with wanted criminal Dalton Smith with a 15-year criminal history.

Victims tried to give home invader Dalton Smith, 30, their TVs, computers and jewelry to appease the offender that was wanted for a parole violation. He grabbed Jessica Rebello in a headlock and told the victims, “I can’t go back to jail! when Nassau County police officers arrived about 2:20 a.m. Friday May 17, 2013.

John Kourtessis, who is dating Jessica Rebello – the surviving twin sister – and the Rebello twins and their friend Shannon Thomas tried to appease Dalton Smith after he entered their house near the campus of Hofstra University on Long Island, New York.

They were suddenly faced with a ski-mask clad Dalton Smith with a 15-year extensive criminal history, who entered the house and pointed a gun at the four students.

Police believe Dalton Smith targeted the victims after he saw them spend large amounts of money at the bar.

Shannon Thomas was released from the house when said she could give him $700 cash that she could get from an ATM. Shannon Thomas called 9-1-1 as soon as she got out of the house.

Police entered the house and Smith put Andrea in a headlock. Police confronted Smith and told him to put down the gun and let her go, but Smith said he was going to kill her. Gunfire was exchanged. Smith was hit seven times and Andrea was hit once in the head. Both were killed.

Palatine police responded about 5:36 PM Sunday of a vehicle burglary that “just occurred” 3400 North Bayside Drive Palatine, IL. Police received a report from a third party that an entered a vehicle, took something and then fled.

Shots Fired from Vehicle Near Schoenbeck Rd and Hintz Rd, Wheeling

Wheeling police received a report about 4:55 PM Sunday shots fired near Schoenbeck Road and Wheeling Road Wheeling, IL. Police received a report that
an offender discharged a firearm from a white 4-door. Police received a report that the passenger discharged the weapon.

The driver was discharged as a male/Hispanic, light complexion, with short hair in the front and a pony tail.

The passenger was described as a male/Hispanic, dark complexion, with a mark under his eye.

The driver and/or passenger are wanted for aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Wheeling police were out with a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle a short time later on the far north side of Prospect Heights. Several gang members ran from the vehicle. Possibly one or more in custody — not confirmed.

The crime is reported to have occurred about 4:50 p.m.

Arlington Heights police received a report about 10:33 AM Sunday of criminal damage to vehicle at Walgreens, 1711 West Campbell Street Arlington Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders criminally damaged a vehicle parked in the lot while a customer was at Walgreens.

A vehicle was keyed while the customer wa inside the store. The owner of the vehicle reported that a group of teens were noticed loitering in the lot during the same time period.

Police Activity: Robber Rips Necklace Off Girl’s Neck, Police Searching For Offender Near Golf Rd And Walnut, Schaumburg

Schaumburg police responded about 12:14 PM Saturday to a strong arm robbery in the area of Golf Road and Walnut Avenue.. Police received a report that a man ripped necklace jewelry off of a girl’s neck — possibly near Evening Song — while she was walking in an apartment complex.

Police described the offender as a male/black in his late teens or early 20s. The subject is also described as light-skinned with short hair and a mustache. He was wearing a tank top and has a large tatoo.

The offender pushed the girl down and, after ripping off the jewelry, asked for everything else she had. She was not carrying any other possessions.

Arlington Heights police responded with a K-9 unit. Police are searching the area for the offender.

About 30 minutes later no complaints were signed by the victim, and the search was terminated.

Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders criminally damaged multiple mailboxes along Kingsport Drive, Bridgeport Drive, and Wingate Drive.

The crime is reported to have occurred sometime overnight.

The US Postal service will deliver to the mailbox even if it left on the ground. If no mailbox is available, the mail is returned to the local post office.
