Third Strong Armed Robbery in Two Months in Schaumburg

Schaumburg Strong Armed Robbery suspect (Computer generated likeness of suspect).

The Schaumburg Police Department (SPD) is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect from a Strong Armed Robbery that occurred at 8:34 p.m. last night (Monday June 17th). A female adult resident of Schaumburg was approaching the entrance of a condominium building on the 300 block of South Roselle Road when two male black teens approached. One of the suspects grabbed a gold necklace from the victim’s neck and fled on foot. The victim was not injured. No weapon was displayed.

The suspect is described a male/black, 15-16 yoa, 6’00”, thin build.

SPD detectives are investigating two similar robberies that occurred in Beat 1 last month. Yesterday’s strong armed robbery was in Beat 4. Schaumburg Police Department urges any citizen who may recognize the above suspect or who has information on any of these crimes to call the SPD Investigations Division at 847.882.3534.

Residents are reminded to remain alert in public and immediately report suspicious persons by calling 9-1-1.

Prominent British Art Collector Charles Saatchi Cautioned on Assault of Wife Nigella Lawson

Martin Frizell of Australia’s Sunrise on 7, reports about photos that have been published that show celebrity chef Nigella Lawson being strangled by a man believed to be her husband, Charles Saatchi.

In June 2013, photographs were published by the Sunday People newspaper of Lawson apparently being grabbed around the neck by her husband, advertising mogul Charles Saatchi, during an argument at a London seafood restaurant –Scott’s in Mayfair. Saatchi said the pictures showed what was only a “playful tiff”. But his wife had later been seen leaving the family home with her children because he had “told Nigella to take the kids off till the dust settled”. After a police investigation of the incident, Saatchi was cautioned for assault during the afternoon of June 17, 2013. On June 18, 2013 it was reported that Lawson had actually left the family home with her children.

Nigella Lucy Lawson is a British food writer, journalist and broadcaster, and is the daughter of Nigel Lawson, the former Chancellor of the Exchequer, and Vanessa Salmon, whose family owned the J. Lyons and Co. food and catering business.

Armed Robbery at Radio Shack on Touhy Ave, Niles

Niles police responded about 11:09 AM Tuesday to an armed robbery at Radio Shack, 5633 West Touhy Avenue Niles, IL. Police received a report that two male/black subjects robbed the Radio Shack.

One subject was wearing a checkered shirt. Both were wearing silver/gray type baseball hats and were described as about 25-years-old. Both were armed with handguns.

The offenders took US cash.

The offender was described as a male/white wearing a gray jacket with a black hoodie. The subject fled the scene carrying a blue plastic garbage bag with cash inside. He was last seen fleeing on foot northbound on Milwaukee Avenue from the intersection of Howard Street.

A earlier armed robbery occurred at the PNC Bank, 7601 Milwaukee Avenue by an offender described as a male/white wearing a gray jacket with a black hoodie at about 9:16 a.m.

Armed Bank Robbery at PNC Bank on Milwaukee Ave Near Howard St, Niles

Niles police responded about 9:16 AM Tuesday to a bank robbery at the PNC Bank, 7601 Milwaukee Avenue Niles, IL. Police received a report that a male subject displayed a handgun and robbed the PNC Bank.

A second armed robbery at occurred at the Radio Shack, 5633 West Touhy Avenue by offenders described as two male/black armed with a handgun at about 11:09 a.m.

Golden Retriever Presumed Stolen After Witness Sees Dog Taken Into Compact Car Near Plum Grove Estates, Palatine, Schaumburg Area

“Bailee” escaped from a Plum Grove Estates yard and then was apparently taken by an unknown female in a dark compact car near Frankly Yours Restaurant, 1580 East Algonquin Road, Schaumburg.

Palatine police received a report on Saturday of a theft of a dog in the area of Thorntree Lane and Algonquin Road Palatine, IL. Police received a report that an unknown subject called a family dog to come to a car, and then fled with the dog. The dog named “Bailee” is a light-gold color, 3-year-old, 52-pound Golden Retreiver.

About 3:00 Saturday June 15, 2013, a neighbor of the owner witnessed the dog run to the car in the parking lot of Frankly Yours restaurant parking lot, 1580 E Algonquin Rd, Schaumburg, IL along the border of Schaumburg and Palatine just east of Meacham Road. The neighbor saw the dog get into a dark-colored compact car. The driver or vehicle occupant was described as a female, 35-40 years-old with short blond hair.

No “found dog” report has been filed with local police, therefore the dog is presumed stolen.

Owner Michael Gerdes, who lives in the Plum Grove Estates neighborhood with his family, urges anyone with information about “Bailee” to call him at 847-612-1675. There is a reward and Gerdes says “no questions asked” are the terms of the return.

Gerdes has contacted all police departments, animal hospitals, veterinarians and shelters in the area.

Bikes Taken in Burglary at Village Cycle Sports on Rand Rd, Prospect Heights

Prospect Heights police responded to a commercial burglary alarm about 3:30 AM Thursday to an activated commercial burglary alarm at Village Cycle Sports, 1326 North Rand Road Prospect Heights, IL. Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized the large bicycle store by breaking and entering a window of the store.

The crime is reported to have occurred between 3:10 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. Thursday, May 30, 2013.

The well-known bike shop moved right across the street from the north side of Rand Road to the south side of Rand Road earlier is year.

Those Aren’t Fireworks, Those Were Gunshots at Kiescher Party on Sherwood Dr Near Waverly Ave, Streamwood

Streamwood police responded late night/early morning June 2, 2013 to the 400 block of Sherwood Drive to a complaint about a loud party that turned out to be partygoers taking target practice with a .22 caliber revolver that hit two neighboring homes.

One bullet projectile ended up traveling through the bedroom in one of the homes and lodged in a closet door. The resident was taking a shower in an adjacent bathroom when the bullet hit.

Peter Kiescher, 49, hosting the party was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, a felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Kiescher’s son and three of his friends also were charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, according to police. The subjects were identified as Peter Kriescher Jr., 18, of the 13000 block of South 70th Court, Palos Heights; Jacalyn Dooley, 20, of the 8000 block of Nielsen Drive, Tinley Park; Jaime Johnson, 22, of the 10400 block of South Maplewood, Chicago; and Teresa Kitchin, of the 14300 block of south Woodland Avenue, Orland Park. Police investigating the subjects discovered none of them had a firearms owner ID (FOID) card.

Police secured the area when they discovered that what was initially believed to be fireworks were bullets flying. Even a girl at the party thought she was only shooting a BB gun. Police called for back up and were considering a SWAT response, especially when they called the home where the party was being held and got no answer. Next they used a bullhorn to ask people to more to the front of the house, but the people were uncooperative and went inside, turned off the lights and closed the blinds.

Eventually, the subjects were arrested with some neighboring police agencies assisting Streamwood police.

Police estimate the revolver was fired about 20 times at books and a beer can — using a large wood crate filled with dirt as a backstop. Ridge Circle Elementary School is less than a block away from the crime scene.

Cook County Sheriff’s Gun Suppression Team Search Warrant Yields Sawed-Off Shotgun, Charges

HARVEY, IL – A 30-year-old Harvey man has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon after the Sheriff’s Police Gun Suppression Team found a sawed-off shot gun while executing a search warrant at the man’s home, Cook County Sheriff Thomas J. Dart announced today.
Kristopher Buchanan appeared at the Markham Courthouse Thursday morning where his bond was set at $5,000.

Gun Suppression Team members executed a search warrant around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday in the 14400 block of South Green Street in Harvey after receiving information Buchanan may be illegally in possession of firearms. After officers located Buchanan in front of his residence, they entered the home and found in a bedroom, a 12-gauge model 916 Smith & Wesson shotgun with its barrel sawed off.

Buchanan has multiple felony convictions for possession of a controlled substance. Because of those convictions he is prohibited from possessing firearms.

Since forming in February, the Sheriff’s Gun Suppression Team has recovered 156 guns and 137 revoked Firearm Owner’s Identification cards. It has also resolved 90 FOID card cases.
Buchanan’s next court date is scheduled for July 18 at the Markham Courthouse.

Sheriff Dart reminds the public that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.

2 Chains and his boys got held up in San Francisco … and the whole thing was caught on tape!

Police say rapper 2 Chainz was robbed Sunday evening in San Francisco before a concert in Oakland, however the MC has seemingly denied the claim on Twitter.

According to San Francisco Sgt. Dennis Toomer, 2 Chainz, real name Tauheed Epps, was walking down a sidewalk with five members of his entourage when they were approached by three men, who robbed him of his cellphone and wallet. One of the men, who can be seen with his arm outstretched taking aim, was reportedly holding a gun. There is also a report that a shot was fired.

Police received a report that an unknown offender or offenders burglarized a vehicle near the residence. Police received a report that a laptop and several item were taken from the vehicle.

ARLINGTON CARDINAL CROWDSOURCE received a report about 10:24 PM Monday of a theft at the Apple Store Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg, IL. CROWDSOURCE received a report that an unknown offender or offenders took two Apple iPhones and cases at the Apple Store at Woodfield Mall.

Two Apple iPhones were stolen out of a handbag on a training table while group training was taking place in the middle of the Apple store.

Death Investigations in Darien: Four Found Dead in Home on Oldfield Rd

DuPage County Sheriff’s police responded Tuesday afternoon after four people were found dead in the 500 block of Oldfield Road in unincorporated Darien.

DuPage County Sheriff’s police officers and Darien Police Department officers are on the scene.

No word is immediately available on the cause of the deaths.

Three members of a family were killed in their Darien home in March 2010. Lori and Jeffrey Kramer and their 20-year-old son, Michael Kramer were killed in a plot by Johnny Borizov, an ex-boyfriend of Angela, who was hiding in a closet during the killings. Jacob Nodarse, an acquaintance of Borizov actually committed the shootings that killed the victims.

Borizov was in a bitter custody battle with the Kramer’s daughter, Angela, at the time of the murders.

Nodarse pleaded guilty but mentally ill in the murder of Jeffrey Kramer.

Johnny Borizov was convicted on all counts in plotting the 2010 murder of his girlfriend’s parents and brother.

Rolling Meadows Police Release Sketch of Suspect in Attempted Child Luring Near Algonquin Rd and Barker Ave

Police sketch of a suspect reported to have attempted to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car (police sketch).

Rolling Meadows police received a report Sunday that a man attempted to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car about 10:00 a.m. Sunday. Rolling Meadows police released a sketch of a man based on a description of the man that the 12-year-old girl reports tried to get her into his car.

Police released the report that the girl was walking across a parking lot near Barker Avenue and Algonquin Road when she saw a vehicle driving towards her. Police say the vehicle was occupied by only the driver, who asked the girl if she needed a ride. When she ignored him, the driver demanded that she get in the car. The 12-year-old girl ran away and the suspect fled the scene at high speed in the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his early 20s with a thin build and short, spiked hair. Police say he was wearing a red Chicago Bulls tank top jersey with a white t-shirt underneath, as well as a silver necklace with a circular shaped pendant.

The vehicle used by the suspect is described as a silver four-door sedan with body damage on the right front and right rear of the vehicle. The make and model was not specified.

Ana Lilia Trujillo Charged in Stiletto Homicide at The Parklane on Hermann Dr, Houston

Officials say a Houston woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death with a stiletto high heel told police she was trying to protect herself.

Houston police responded just before 4:00 a.m. Sunday to the 18th floor of The Parklane apartment complex at 1701 Hermann Drive near Almeda Road to a report of an assault-in-progress

Ana Lilia Trujillo, 44, was charged with murder in the death of Alf Stefan Andersson, 59, a appeared in probable cause court around 8 p.m. Monday and then appeared in court before Judge Brock Thomas on Tuesday morning.

Ann Lilia Trujillo answered the door with blood visible on her clothing and hands.Police her to sit on the floor, and discovered Andersson lying on his back, unresponsive and not breathing in a hallway between the entryway and the kitchen.

Andersson had ten puncture wounds to the head, some of which were 1 to 1.5 inches deep. Andersson, a professor at the University of Houston Center for Nuclear Receptors and Cell Signaling, also had more than 15 puncture wounds to the face, arms and neck.

Princeton University Evacuated After Bomb Threat

Princeton University received a bomb threat to multiple unspecified campus buildings. The entire campus and all University offices have been given an evacuation order with instructions to go home unless unless other specific orders were received. Public Safety officers and Princeton Police directed drivers in vehicles to leave the campus. Those without cars were directed to evacuation sites.

A woman in Santa Monica describes the woman she found who was shot and her neighbor’s house that was on fire.

Witness Reid Rosson described the neighborhood where the house fire occurred as a very quiet neighborhood. Reid Rosson was a witness that heard the first shot and ran out to the yard and called 9-1-1. She then heard more shots. She saw a carjacking occur as the gunman shot one woman and then hijacked another woman’s car. The gunman got into the passenger seat of the car he hijacked, and the vehicle sped away with the woman driving. The witness video shows another car with bullet holes and the female driver who suffered gunshot wounds.

TIMELINE … A gunman in Santa Monica, California, sets fire to a house and goes on a mile-long killing spree. A witness described the gunman as calmly walking around and looking for victims.

Two Men Charged After Cannabis and Guns Discovered during Eviction on S. California Ave, Chicago

CHICAGO, IL – Cook County Sheriff’s deputies broke up an apparent drug deal while serving a court- ordered eviction on Wednesday morning in Chicago, Sheriff Thomas J. Dart said today.

Rosendo Diaz, 28, opened the door to a home in the 5600 block of South California Avenue after deputies announced themselves as executing an eviction order at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The deputies informed Diaz of the eviction and its procedures. Another man, identified as 29-year-old Israel Fernandez, of Chicago, was located in the living room. Both men were asked to be seated while the deputies checked for other people in the house.
While searching the basement, deputies came across gallon-sized freezer bags in plain view, containing what appeared to be cannabis lying on a bed. They also identified loose cannabis in empty containers, a large brick of cannabis, a scale, a semi-automatic handgun and a revolver.

Diaz told the deputies the house belonged to his parents and he lived there with them. His mother arrived after Diaz called her to return home at the deputy’s request. She consented to a search of the house and garage.

Two additional large bundles of cannabis were found under the basement stairs. A .357 caliber revolver and ammunition were found in an unlocked safe in the basement.
A total of 44 pounds of cannabis was found in the house – 22 pounds in the bedroom and 22 pounds under the stairs in the basement, with an estimated street value of over $200,000.

The Sheriff’s Police Gun Suppression Unit and Gang Unit worked in partnership with asset forfeitures teams and evidence technicians at the scene.

Sheriff’s Police investigators learned that Fernandez was at the house to buy cannabis from Diaz. Diaz was in the basement bagging up cannabis when deputies arrived to enforce the court order.

Diaz was charged yesterday with armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, felony possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fernandez was charged yesterday with attempted possession of cannabis and has already posted bond. Diaz is scheduled to appear in bond court at noon today at the Leighton Criminal Courts Building.

Sheriff Dart reminds the public that the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty by the government in a court of law.
