Arlington Heights Police Assist Rolling Meadows PD Round Up Kids with Bats

Rolling Meadows police and Arlington Heights police were in foot pursuit of juveniles with bats that would not stop for Rolling Meadows police near Algonquin Road and Weber. About five subjects in black and red hoodies were chased down from an original location about 1207 South Old Wilke. Some subjects were chased as far as the Arlington Lakes Golf Course. An Arlington Heights police officer found a bat in some bushes. One or two subjects were arrested in front of Auto Zone on Algonquin Road. Possibly another subject was arrest across Algonquin Road.

The original charges, besides fleeing police or resisting arrest are unknown, but at least one of the juveniles might have had a warrant for his arrest.

Fight, Disturbance on East Deerfield Parkway Buffalo Grove

Buffalo Grove police responded about 4:10 a.m. Saturday to a report of intoxicated males fighting with glass breaking in a parking lot in the 1200 block of East Deerfield Parkway. Police arrived to find one male down on the ground injured. — paramedics were called. At least three or males males were fighting. Buffalo Grove Fire Department sent two rescue-ambulances to the scene. Buffalo Grove police arrested two males who were transported in custody to Buffalo Grove Police Department Headquarters. two transported to the hospital with police following.

Police Vehicle Pursuit, Foot Pursuit in Palatine Near Lake Cook Rd and Hicks

After initiating a traffic stop that turned into a vehicle pursuit, Cook County Sheriff’s deputies on northbound Hicks Road near Lake Cook Road had at least two suspects bail out of the vehicle. A foot pursuit continued in an area of woods just after 1100 p.m. Wednesday. One of the suspects, who bailed out of their vehicle, was carrying a shotgun and wearing all red. A second suspect was wearing a black hoodie and jeans. Palatine Police Department and Lake County Sheriff’s deputies immediately assisted with the pursuit. Police lost sight of the suspects and called in a police helicopter for aerial searching.

Buffalo Grove police assisted with a wide perimeter border that was located near Arlington Heights Road and Checker. Police announced three suspects in custody at about 1:15 a.m. Thursday.

The traffic stop is possibly gang related. Cook County Sheriff’s deputies were on a surveillance operation at the Country Glen apartments in unincorporated Arlington Heights. Police were on alert for a gang fight that might be initiated in the neighborhood. The vehicle pursuit headed to the Lake Cook Road and Hick Road area– where the suspects bailed out and fled on foot.

The suspect with the shotgun was caught immediately. A bloodhound tracked a second suspect to the location where he was hiding. The third suspect was stuck in mud in a marshy area, and spotted by a Cook County Sheriff/Chicago Police Department helicopter.

Three Youths Shot By Drive-By Shooter Near 7-Eleven on Bode Rd, Schaumburg

Schaumburg police responded to a drive-by shooting report about 8:30 p.m. in the 900 block of Bode Road where three youths were near the 7-Eleven parking lot at 920 Bode Road. A 16-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy were shot and reported in critical condition. A 14-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet and was injured, but not in critical condition.

The shots came from the cab of a gold pickup truck that was westbound on Bode Road. The offender or offenders continued westbound on Bode Road.

Betty Burden, 54, Mount Prospect School Bus Driver DUI: 3 Times Over the Limit

Mount Prospect school bus driver Betty Burden, 54, was nearly three times over the legal limit for alcohol after she dropped off about 50 children at their homes from Lions Park Elementary School Tuesday afternoon.

Betty Burden was arrested after police received a report from Vincente Ramirez, the transportation supervisor with Mount Prospect School District 57 around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday. The supervisor followed Bus Number 11, and when driving appeared erratic, the police were called. Police were committed to a traffic stop with the bus on River Road, just north of Euclid Avenue about 3:45 p.m Tuesday. Her blood alcohol level was .226.

When police approached the school bus driver, they “immediately smelled the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Burden’s breath,” , and also noticed other physical signs of “alcohol impairment.” She failed “all field sobriety tests administered to her,” and was transported in custody to Mount Prospect Police Department Headquarters.

A school bus driver for the Mount Prospect school district for 10 years, she admitted drinking vodka and orange juice before driving.

Citizen Yells to Breaks Up Vehicle Burglary-in-Progress in Mount Prospect

Mount Prospect police responded to a report about 9:05 p.m. of a burglary in progress that was broken up by a citizen in the 2100 block of West Haven Street in Mount Prospect. A citizen yelled after he saw two subjects inside a car with one offender having a bike. When the citizen yelled, the offenders ran away from the car.

One offender was wearing a bright orange hooded sweatshirt. Arlington Heights police were alerted to be on the lookout in the neighborhood.

No known arrests no this case.
