CBS Sports Solomon Wilcots interviews Lovie Smith spoke to after Super Bowl XLI.
Interview with Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith after the Bears Super Bowl loss to the Indianapolis Colts 29-17 Sunday, February 4, 2007.
Lovie Smith said he talked to his Chicago Bears team about the, “progress we made … We didn’t get the job done this year, but next year is just around the corner.”
We’ve arrived at Halas Hall after a police escort from O’Hare International Airport with media vans and dedicated Bears fans cheering and greeting the team convoy at the O’Hare International security gate and at Halas Hall along Football Drive in Lake Forest … and the thermometer at ZERO degrees! The Chicago Police and Des Plaines Police blocked all intersections for the convoy of tour buses from O’Hare to I-94. We arrived from balmy Miami on a charter United Airlines 747 and walked right into the tour buses on the airport tarmac. The flight, of course, was not nearly as fun had the Bears won.
The Super Bowl XLI Chicago Bears Family & Friends blog on Action-Heights.com still has a lot of updates and catching up to do with additional photos and other additions. Don’t forget to check back later.
More on losing the Super Bowl later. The ride home has begun. The weather is mostly cloudy and 68 degrees here in Miami. We just checked Chicago’s weather and the reality is sinking in that we are coming back to below-zero weather. We got another police escort for the ride from the hotel to the airport, but the passengers are somewhat reserved in conversation. We are waiting in our buses. About eight cruise buses are waiting on the tarmac at Miami International Airport.
There are five jetliners returning Chicago Bears friends and family to Chicago’s O’Hare. The plane we are awaiting is coming from Chicago empty, except for the flight crew. This plane is a 747 and is flying the team back. Our security check is right on the buses and on the tarmac under the plane.
And now we’re boarding.
Some players on board are joking and giving their jabs to each other, but some are pretty somber.
A couple of delays have occurred, including an accident on a runway before our plane landed at Miami International Airport..
I am sitting next to Linebacker Rod Wilson (#59) and across the aisle from Cornerback Devin Hester (#23) and Running Back Cedric Benson (#32). Wide Receiver Rashied Davis (#81) is across the aisle and one row back. Cornerback Charles Tilman (#33) is a couple of rows back. Wide Receiver Muhsin Muhammad (#87) is also a few rows back.
Prince silhouette during Purple Rain performance at Super Bowl XLI in Miami, Florida.
Well, here is the picture of the silhouette of Prince during his Purple Rain performance. No big deal, but yeah … we chuckled a little at this one. Yep, it looks like a … But it also reminds me of the Lion having trouble with his tail in the Wizard of Oz. Anyway, come on people, hasn’t anybody learned from Wayne’s World movies that these silhouette images can be mistaken?
