Santa Barbara Wildfire Breaks Out Tuesday as ‘Jesusita’ Fire: Two Civilians, Ten Firefighters Suffer Burns

UPDATE (MAY 7 2009 2:19 PM CDT): Up to 10 firefighters injured … 3 with serious burns, but in stable condition.
At least 8,000 evacuated.

At least one dozen homes involved in fire near Mission and Tunnel Canyon Roads.

Homes also fully involved with fire just east of Mission Canyon and Las Canoas roads.
Two civilians suffered second-degree burns and two firefighters suffered burns, and were hospitalized shortly before 5 p.m.

The “Jesusita fire” started at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday in San Roque Canyon in north Santa Barbara.
