Inverness: Woman Robbed During Fake Police Traffic Stop

#ad▼

Barrington-Inverness Police are searching for multiple offenders posing
as police officers after a woman was pulled over for a traffic stop by
robbers in an unmarked car with blue flashing lights. After the
unidentified woman pulled over on Colonial Drive near Harper College,
she was robbed at knifepoint at about 4 a.m. early Thursday.

Police are recommending that people activate their automobile hazard
lights and call 9-1-1 when they are followed by an unmarked car with
flashing lights. If the 9-1-1 dispatcher verifies that the unmarked car
is an official police car, pull over in a lighted, public location and
stay connected with the 911 operator until you feel certain that you
have been pulled over by a true police officer.
