Woman Struck by a Vehicle Killed on Touhy Ave Near Longhorn Steakhouse, Des Plaines

Des Plaines police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:31 PM Wednesday October 25, 2017 to a report of a person hit by a vehicle near 1470 East Touhy Ave Des Plaines, Il — also near Touhy Avenue and Mannheim Road. Police and firefighter/paramedics also received a report that a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle on Touhy Avenue in front of LongHorn Steakhouse.

Police were first on the scene and were performing CPR on the female victim.

The woman, age 69, was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m.

The woman was walking northbound in a poorly lit area at 8:27 p.m., when a vehicle going westbound in the curb lane of the block of 1400 East Touhy Avenue struck her.

The pedestrian was not using a crosswalk when she was hit, police said.

Police did not release the name of the victim, pending notification of the victim’s family.

An extended accident investigation was ongoing until about 2:00 a.m. Thursday with the westbound lanes of Touhy Avenue closed.

On Friday October 13, 2017 a 63-year-old woman was hit and killed by a car at Touhy Avenue and Central Avenue in Niles, which is about six miles east of Touhy Avenue and Mannheim Road (See Arlington Cardinal Woman Hit, Killed By Car at Touhy Ave and Central Ave, Niles).
