But Kenneka Jenkins’ family argues there is nothing conclusive about the images that surfaced Thursday. CBS 2’s Sandra Torres reports.

Kenneka Jenkins, a 19-year-old woman, was found dead in a Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare hotel freezer Sunday September 10, 2017, more than 20 hours after she was reported missing after a party in one the rooms at the Rosemont hotel. Kenneka Jenkins, a resident on Chicago’s West Side, was found about 12:48 a.m. on September 10, 2017 in a walk-in freezer at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O’Hare Hotel & Conference Center in Rosemont.

Jenkins was beyond help when she was found. No resuscitation was attempted and she was pronounced dead at the scene in an unused, refrigerator in an area of the hotel that was undergoing construction renovation.

The freezer was on a cold setting, but was not being used to store food, police said.

After Kenneka Jenkins was found dead in a walk-in freezer at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Sunday, September 10, 2017; rumors and speculation have run rampant. CBS 2’s Audrina Bigos reports.

Andrew Holmes suggested Thursday that the controversial death of a 19-year-old woman at a Rosemont hotel was accidental. CBS 2’s Sandra Torres has the latest.

YouTube Video channel expresses controversy as some claim black activist Andrew Holmes was exposed as fraud, by Kenneka Jenkins’ Mom. Andrew Holmes is an advocate for victims in the City of Chicago who responds to help victims of crimes and families of victims of crimes, but following the Kenneka Jenkins incident, some have claimed he is a race traitor.

A controversy quickly developed regarding the cause of Jenkin’s death — with one side concluding her death was accidental, and one side suspecting foul play. Jenkins’ mother Teresa Martin told Chicago reporters she believed someone in the hotel killed her child. Many people used social media to “investigate” leads on their own, and several conspiracies developed related to the death investigation. Police asked people to report information directly to the police rather than

About 4 a.m. Saturday, Jenkins’ friends had become concerned after they noticed she was missing. The friends told Jenkins’ mother, Teresa Martin, that they were in the car Martin had lent Jenkins for the night and had her cell phone. Martin went to the Crowne Plaza hotel about 5:00 a.m. Saturday September 9, 2017 to help find her daughter. Martin reports she asked the hotel staff to look at video surveillance, but hotel staff told her she needed to file a missing person report to activate review of the surveillance video. Martin also said that Rosemont Police told her to wait a few hours before filing a report to see if Kenneka Jenkins turned was found.

“We were begging for help, and no one was helping,” Martin told reporters Sunday — hours after she was reported missing. Martin said she was angry and disappointed in the lack of urgency shown by the hotel staff and Rosemont police. Martin told a Chicago Tribune reporter, “If they had taken me seriously and checked right away, they could have found my daughter much sooner and she might have been alive.”

Rosemont police say they have released the entire video available, but skeptics regarding the investigation point out there is no video that actually shows Keneeka Jenkins entering the refrigerator. The surveillance video showing Kenneka Jenkins reveal that she is at or near a state where she is physically unable to care for herself safely.
