Mount Prospect police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 8:58 p.m. Tuesday May 16, 2017 to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a Toyota Corolla near the intersection of Algonquin Road and Dempster Street.

The motorcyclist was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where he was later pronounced dead.

The motorcyclist was identified as Jason Alexander, age 33. Police believe Alexander was driving his motorcycle westbound on Algonquin Road in the curb lane, while an oncoming Toyota Corolla was driven eastbound on Algonquin Road. The driver of the Toyota Corolla attempted to turn left into a private drive when Alexander’s motorcycle struck the Toyota.

The Toyota was driven by a 23-year-old woman from Mount Prospect. The driver of the Toyota did not initially report any injuries.

Witnesses told Mount Prospect police that Alexander’s motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed just prior to the crash. Alexander’s motorcycle hit the passenger side of the Toyota during the left turn. Police said Alexander was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash when he was thrown from the motorcycle.

At least one lane of Algonquin Road was closed for an extended period for accident investigation Tuesday night. Mount Prospect police urge anyone who witnessed the crash to call the Mount Prospect Police Department at 847-870-5656. The Mount Prospect Police Department is investigating the crash.
