Six-Vehicle Crash on I-94 Near Buckley Rd Kills Ohio Man

Libertyville firefighter/paramedics and Illinois State Police troopers responded about 11:50 a.m. Sunday April 30, 2017 to a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound (southbound) I-94 near Marker 14.25.

A 62-year-old man from Ohio died in the crash that involved six-vehicles on the Tri-State Tollway near Buckley Road — north of Route 176.

Anita Silvert, 62, of Northbrook, lost control of her 2007 Dodge on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 near Libertyville and Abbot Park. Her vehicle crashed a 2005 Honda Pilot driven by Roberto Maldonado, 59, of Kenosha.

The crash then initiated a chain reaction that included a total of six vehicles, according to Illinois State Police. Allen Kenngott, 62, of Akron, Ohio was killed when the Dodge Caravan he was driving was hit in the chain reaction. CPR was administered at the scene and Allen Kenngott was transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger in Kenngott’s Dodge Caravan, Catherine Kenngott, 60, was also transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

Ashely Szudarski, 32, of Chicago, who was driving a 2016 Mercedes, was transported to Lake Forest Hospital for treatment of injuries that initially appeared to be minor injuries.

There were no other injuries reported in the crash.

James Hart, 69, of Grande Ledge, Michigan, a driver also involved in the crash, was driving a 2000 Kenworth with a 1997 Boydstun trailer, according to Illinos State Police. Kavitha Amudttan, 41, of Waukegan, was driving a 2007 Honda and was also involved in the crash.

Firefighter/paramedics from Lake Forest, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods and Gurnee also responded with rescue ambulances to assisted Libertyville firefighter/paramedics.

Illinois State Police are investigating the crash.
